Fantastic! I saw a fragment of it earlier on TV but it didin’t have the impact of the original on Utube. While watching, I almost got hypnotized: all these artitsts wanted to give their subjects “that special expression”, many looking into your eyes. I didn’t see who made it. A perfect example of virtual reality.
Dear Amanda, I will find out how it was done and have a go. I expect it was a flash movie. My younger daughter who you will see here very soon at the opening of her exhibition in Birmingham has commented that they were not in chronological order! May I ask you for some suggestions of paintings to include!

PS Actually on second reading of your comments, to me it was rather different. I remember the third time I watched it I thought to myself how strange it was that I found so many of them beautiful and how different they were, long noses, short noses, dark eyes, blue eyes, brown eyes, high cheek bones hair and bonnets and in fashions a thousand years apart etc. No real male fantasy at all; other than the painters’; and they may have been kind, ” missing out” the odd wart and blemish and perhaps a little idolisation for reasons of flattery to the pay master/ mistress! I will email you on this!
Perhaps slower would be better–I felt a little seasick.
Some of Amanda’s impression may come from the constant move from a vertical head to a “cocked” one and back again, as that has a rather “come hither” effect at times.
But I enjoyed it. I think it would be interesting to do it more as a “family of man” portrait and include men and children.

Hmmm. Yes, valid points. For me, the imagery moves too quickly, highlighting the shared features rather than the individuality of each woman.
