How very sad. They are threatening to remove this “structure” in Vancouver. On my visit to Canada I noticed a lack of preserving things especially old buildings which seem to be abandoned and a new one built close by. This seems to epitomise that.
I will admit that if I were to be going to Vancouver I would go and see this, it’s fun original and “in keeping” with the surroundings. Must have cost a bomb to make and place there too.

Some things are good for a day — some things are good forever.
For me — visual jokes — indeed, all jokes — grow stale on the second seeing/hearing.
On the one occasion I visited Canada, I was struck by the countryside in many ways, but one memory that sticks predominantly was the way older buildings were discarded and left to rot and a new one built near by. This work seems to epitomise that. Ok it might be an “installation” i.e. short term “art work”, but it must have been expensive to make and install. It’s not one of the seven wonders of my world but it fits well in that setting for me. I am not sure what I would you replace it with; I will give it some thought!
