If you hadn’t described your friend as a sculptor, I would suspect it – she is touching the work in both images. And if you hadn’t described the sculptor as a friend, I would also suspect it, for you allow her to touch the work.
English she certainly is; though very broad minded Chris you are always full of surprises!
It is not always appropriate to touch bronze sculpture but people are often tempted to “stroke” my spaniels! The bronze of Juliet in Verona is traditionally “touched” is it not, as good luck by engaged couples? The lack of patina in on her breast area shows touching bronze is not always encouraged.
I personally like the idea though. Sculpture should be more than just a visual art. Jo Burchell’s barbed wire sculptures here give mixed messages on this point!
We have the boar sculpture near an outdoor market here. His nose is all shiny from being rubbed for good luck. If there is an impulse to touch a work (my hand reaches out despite any warning of my mind or before one can be generated), then there is some element of the work that is excellent.

Well Marley I haven’t actually counted them yet, but he has a good many! Good to have you back here again. I will post up one of my daughter’s Advent calenders and a post about “The Snow Queen” which I think you will like.
