Parian Ware
In one of those awful computer crashes I lost all my precious pictures of this work in parian ware.
Her husband wanted a marble of his wife in Roman style. A good cast in Parian Ware (sometimes known as biscuit ware) is better than marble and extremely difficult to do.
I was very grateful to Allen White, Master Potter for helping me with this amazing result. This is made with a slip (liquid mud) using a mix which results in something between bone china and porcelain. It has to be poured into a plaster mould and fired very hot. The result is a very crisp, and fine, translucent white and in places all the colours of the rainbow when in the sun. A nightmare to do, but well worth the effort and I was very pleased with the result!
