Swallow

Swallow At Culpeper’s Dish

A much loved “bird” Swallow, or to give her her proper title “Swallow At Culpeper’s Dish”; originating from the sculptor’s elder daughter who felt it reminded her of that feeling of elation when she would start to run down the slope into Culpepper’s dish, a swallow hole in Dorset.

Reminiscent of the Eros pose, Gilbert’s masterpiece in Piccadilly Circus, this is a detailed bozzetto of a work in the planning. When finished it will be about 90 cm high. The pose is almost impossible to hold for any length of time.
